Romy believed that with Kay she had finally found the happiness of her life. But now, when she is released from prison after a year of incarceration, she has to learn that he has a child with someone else. A bitter disappointment for Romy. And even the job in a retirement home promises little hope for better times.<\/p>\n
A trip to the Loire is just what she needs. Johanna Langhoff, a resident of the home, makes her a tempting offer: If Romy accompanies her on her last trip to the Loire, the old lady wants to make her her sole heir.<\/p>\n
Although the two women are like fire and water, the disillusioned Romy embarks on the adventure. At the same time, it gets on Romy’s nerves that Mrs. Langhoff still draws on her memories: as a young woman, she spent unforgettable summers on the Loire with her French lover. However, their happiness came to an abrupt end when one day Mrs. Langhoff had to receive the surprising news of the death of her beloved Henri.<\/p>\n
Pierre, the French captain of the ship in which Romy and Mrs. Langhoff travel down the side channels of the Loire, is also scarred by love. But that does not mean that he has lost his French lightness. And so three very different people embark on a journey together, during which Romy learns for the first time what it means to be valued as a person for oneself.<\/p>\n
Only with this new attitude towards life does she finally manage to jump over her shadow and stand by the old lady when she is completely surprised to learn that her whole life is based on a lie.<\/p>\n
